2013 big east championship game

Gorgui Dieng had nine points, nine rebounds and eight assists for the Cardinals. I was going all over the place, trying to get rebounds, either offense or defense. These guys looked for me, and I just tried to finish for them.

I just came out hard and played my heart out. Fair had 21 points for the Orange, Michael Carter-Williams had 11 points and nine assists, and Brandon Triche added 10 points. In their game winning streak, Louisville allowed opponents Syracuse shot Louisville had 11 steals, including four by Siva, who became the school's all-time leader in that category on Friday night.

He tied the Big East tournament record with seven steals against Notre Dame in the semifinals. Syracuse will leave the Big East tied with Georgetown for the most conference tournament wins at The Panthers slowly clawed away at the lead, moving to within seven with 12 minutes left, four with four minutes left and then just three with a minute left.

After a bucket and a foul, Talib Zanna had a chance to complete the comeback and tie the game with 32 seconds remaining, but he missed the free throw, and behind Michael Carter-Williams' freebies, Syracuse held on for the win. Southerland set a Big East tourney record with six made threes without a miss en route to a game-high 20 points for 'Cuse to help set up a historic semifinal with Georgetown.

The Bearcats got hot from beyond the arc to make things interesting going into the break, but Georgetown absolutely throttled Cincinnati in the second half to stroll to a quarterfinal win. Cincinnati actually took the lead four minutes into the final half, only to see Georgetown score 22 of the next 28 points to put things away. Otto Porter led the Hoyas with a fairly quiet 18 points, while Markel Starks chipped in 14 and Jabril Trawick put together a complete line of nine points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Cincinnati, however, made as many baskets—14—as it had turnovers. It's tough to win when you do that. The Scarlet Knights scored only 19 points in the first half and trailed by 12 at halftime.

They came back hard with 42 second-half points, but the game was never in doubt for Notre Dame. Thanks to 10 made threes in 17 attempts, the Fighting Irish earned their 12th conference victory of the year. Villanova will move on and play No. John's will hope for a bid to the NIT after a season. Syracuse ended the season with four losses in the last five games, all of which to teams that tied for the conference title.

Kevin Ware finishes with the three. Down 16 in the second half. Things were not ideal. Double high post again. This time when Siva gets it back, all he does is square up like he is taking the shot and the defense has to come out and guard him. This leaves Russ wide open. Corner defender is dropped down guarding Trez. They had to pick their poison. This is when you knew they were flustered. Van Treese gets the put-back and Syracuse is folding under the pressure.

Michael Carter Williams throws the ball to Jim Boeheim, who is not eligible to play in this game. Ball-fake by Siva, drive the lane, dish to Gorgui for the dunk.

Trez seals his man from helping. PeypeySiva3 GorguiDieng pic. Respect the Gorgui mid-range. GorguiDieng pic. Cards force another turnover and that leads to another drive and dish for the slam from Peyton to Trez.

Fair led the way with points and seven rebounds of his own. With the Big East tournament now in the books, both fighters can now turn their attention to the big dance. Syracuse should enter the tournament as a No. While the speculation is nice, the complete field of tournament participants will be announced on Selection Sunday less than twenty four hours from now.
