The second class refrigeration license also requires 2 years of work experience but requires the successful completion of a question exam. High pressure boiler licenses require applicants to either have 2 years of work experience or to successfully complete a boiler operator program along with an exam.
The low pressure boiler operator licensure requires applicants to complete either 1 year of work experience or to successfully complete a boiler operator program along with an exam. The permit application must be submitted in triplicate with detailed plans and specifications for review by the Boiler Division. The installation, alteration, or repair may not proceed prior to the issuance of a permit approved by the Boiler Division.
Installation and repairs of boiler and high pressure piping may be done only by those persons having a license from the Boiler Division to do so. Permits will not be issued to unlicensed persons. A license may be obtained by meeting the required educational and experiential criteria and successfully passing an examination given by the boiler division.
Boiler Permit Application. Permits are normally issued within 5 business days of receipt of complete application by the Boiler Division. Rule A credit of 3 years of experience towards the 5 years of experience will be given for 3 years of experience in the design, construction, manufacture, or inspection of boilers. A person who fails to renew a license for 3 consecutive years shall meet the requirements of, and take an examination for, the class of license sought.
